Make time: 30 min | Bake time: 20-25 min
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 orange juiced (about 1/4-1/2 cup)
1/2 orange zested
A small pinch cayanne
1 package/1 lb of bacon ( I perfer thick cut)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to bake on 400
Place your bacon on a greased cookie rack on a pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until crispy. Depending on your oven you can turn the bacon half way through to ensure even crispiness.
Combine brown sugar, orange juice, orange zest and cayanne in a small pot over medium heat. Let the mixture cook for about 5 minutes total, it will be done about a minute or two after it starts to bubble. Depending on how thick you want your syrup, you can let the mixture reduce for a few more minutes to make it thicker, just watch it very carefully as sugar burns quickly! As the syrup cools it will also thicken, I suggest cooking your syrup when your bacon is at least half way done or when it is out of the oven.
When your bacon is finished cooking brush your syrup to coat both sides.
Enjoy!
